You never know what might happen at Village Books....

Last Thurs evening (Jan 25) Steve Wolf was scheduled to give an anger management workshop and discuss his book Taming Your Anger.  One of our regular customers was interested in the event because she works for LAUSD as a counselor for at-risk kids.  She mentioned how strapped they were for volunteers and supplies.  Five minutes after she left, another customer came in asking for advice on simple books to read to a third grader who she tutors as a volunteer.  As I was telling her a little about the other customer, that very customer happened to come back into the bookstore.  They started talking to each other and it turns out the volunteer tutor wants to help the LAUSD counselor.  She also told the LAUSD counselor about her daughter, who is about to graduate, and is looking for an internship in the public school system.  The two of them talked away for half an hour.

 So there is some benefit in getting off the computer and entering the marketplace.  As some comedian like Grouch Marx once said "Ninety percent of luck is just showing up!".  So come and visit us at the bookstore - you never know who you might meet or what might happen....
